The Jogini are seen as the lowest of the low – a prostitute who receives no payment for the acts she’s compelled to engage in. Often dedicated at a young age, tradition dictates that a Jogini girl is not to be ‘used’ until she reaches puberty, then she can be anybody’s.
A large part of what we do involves removing the veil of lies from each child we rescue and help them to see that they are more, far more, than their bodies, that they have value beyond measure and they are worthy of love.
Destiny Rescue’s vision is to rescue children from sexual exploitation. But it’s not as simple as just removing children from the sex industry. When we free a girl and bring her into Destiny Rescue’s care, our work is just beginning.
Our new Learning Centre in Phnom Penh is up-and-running and our staff and rescued children couldn’t be happier. It’s a beautiful space where our girls will learn, love, laugh and heal.
