What We Do

Empower the poor

Some people are so poor, they’re willing to sell their children to the sex trade to survive. Destiny Rescue isn’t okay with that, offering them a much better alternative.

“There were 456 million workers in the world living below the $1.25-a-day poverty line in 2011,” according to the Millennium Report by the United Nations in 2012. This means there are millions of desperate people who, to earn money, might sell illegal drugs and even their children to the sex industry.

The Bible teaches us to be kind to the poor and offer them help in time of need. “Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honours Him,” Proverbs chapter 14 verse 31 says.

We help the poor become independent through our self-sustaining projects.

Destiny Rescue helps empower the poor and destitute, especially in rural areas where extreme poverty exists. We believe in offering them a hand up, not a handout. In other words, our goal is to teach them to become self-supportive over time through our many self-sustaining projects. These programs help families earn a good, stable income and offer them much better options other than illegal drugs or sex trafficking.

Some of our self-sustaining projects include:

  • Pig breeding
Destiny Rescue purchases a male and female pig for a struggling family to raise and breed. In turn, the family can sell the additional pigs they breed for a profit. Then, they can pay Destiny Rescue back by giving us a male and female pig from their offspring.

  • Farming
Destiny Rescue provides the initial seed and supplies needed to help a family, or group of families, grow an agricultural crop or certain types of plants designed for harvesting. At the end of each growing cycle, the family or families split the profits from their harvest. Then, they pay Destiny Rescue back for the initial investment we put in the project.

  • Fish breeding
Destiny Rescue provides the upfront costs needed to create a fish pond and supply the fish. Over time, the fish reproduce. Once the fish reach a mature size, they can be sold for money or eaten by the family raising them. Destiny Rescue is reimbursed from the profits earned over time and can continue empowering the poor with these microloans.

Destiny Rescue also helps educate families.

Village and Community Programs

Destiny Rescue’s team spots high-risk villages and communities that have experienced trafficking and need help. Its team works with village leaders and other organisations to figure out the needs of a community to then create a year-long plan to educate and upskill it.

Education

Our team teaches prevention through education to children, parents, church and village leaders. The curriculum includes:

  • The Gospel message ad presentation
  • Human trafficking awareness
  • Child protection and women’s rights
  • Safe touch workshops with children
  • Online safety

What’s more, Destiny Rescue holds concerts about trafficking awareness in remote villages where extreme poverty is prevalent. We use these music festivals to get the whole community together to raise awareness about sex trafficking and to teach villagers how to prevent their children from entering the sex-trade. We also discuss the various programs Destiny Rescue provides if a family might need assistance. Sometimes the concerts will include food and health clinics
