Destiny Rescue is turning 25 years old!

For over two decades, this organisation has worked tirelessly on behalf of suffering children. It seems appropriate that this year, we also crossed the groundbreaking milestone of rescuing 25,000 people from trafficking and exploitation.

But that growth hasn’t been linear.

Destiny Rescue began when Tony Kirwan, an Australian tradesman, had a life-changing mission trip to Thailand. He was stunned by the sight of children being openly sold for sex on the street. He began to pray, “God help these children…” but the prayer didn’t finish the way he’d intended. 

Instead, he prayed, “God help me if I don’t do something for these kids.” 

Tony went back to Australia, sold his home, business and everything he owned and moved across the ocean to try to make a difference. He had no experience, little education and only a general idea of what to do. But what he lacked in preparation, he made up for with a total, unwavering commitment to help children.

Destiny Rescue had been born.

Since those humble beginnings, Destiny Rescue has transformed into a respected international counter-trafficking non-governmental organisation (NGO) with ties to law enforcement agencies and communities all over the world. While we’ve developed far beyond our humble roots, that same commitment that drove Tony to abandon all he had for the sake of the children remains the driving force behind everything we do.

A timeline of how one decision changed thousands of lives.

• 2001: Tony devotes his life to helping kids, working in various capacities to serve children.

• 2006: After fighting poverty through child sponsorship, the NGO makes a change. The first child is rescued from sexual exploitation.

• 2013: Destiny Rescue agents have become proficient enough to attract interest from law enforcement. We collaborate on our first raid with local authorities.

• 2018: Work has expanded around the globe, from Latin America to Africa to Asia. Through a partnership in Nepal, agents stop border traffickers from escaping with their victims, our first step toward fighting international trafficking.

• 2022: As human trafficking moves online, we adapt again by co-founding The Scientia Program, a cross-NGO initiative that rescues kids exploited online and helps bring their traffickers to justice. 
• 2026: Destiny Rescue is a top international rescue organisation, employing hundreds of specialised rescue agents and caseworkers, collaborating with international law enforcement entities and advising government change committees and global cross-NGO counter trafficking initiatives.

All that growth and development supports a single, simple objective: rescuing exploited children and helping them stay free. Each of those 25,000+ survivors represents a unique story—a journey of resilience, strength and bravery:

An industrious South African survivor has taken the initiative every step of the way- from asking for help, to saving up for a small business, to even housing another survivor. 

Three young Filipino sisters are stepping resolutely into a daunting, brand-new future, free from the mother who’d exploited them online. 

A Colombian survivor is recovering at home with her family after supplying crucial testimony that led to the destruction of an international trafficking ring.

A Thai boy now has the chance to make his own choices, liberated from the influence of the man who sold him to child predators.

Each survivor has inestimable worth in the eyes of their loving Creator. With His blessing, we’ll continue bringing freedom to suffering kids long into the future until, one day, child exploitation no longer exists.
